Reverend Marjorie Elaine Nunes is the Pastor of Summerfield United Methodist Church in Bridgeport, Connecticut.  Rev. Nunes emphatically states, “I am excited and truly blessed to be called to serve the people of God!”  Before her appointment to Summerfield UMC she was both the Youth Pastor and then the Associate Pastor at Vanderveer Park United Methodist Church in Brooklyn, New York, where she served for two years.  She also served at John Wesley United Methodist Church in Brooklyn, New York, first as a student minister and then as assistant to the Pastor.

Before entering full time ministry Rev. Nunes was Vice President/CFO of Professional Software Systems, Inc., where she worked for sixteen and half years.  Through God’s grace and through hard work she was able to establish a successful career in the area of Client Services in that company and subsequently became a partner.  During that time she responded to the call to the ordained ministry after a few years of deliberate prayer and discernment.

Rev. Nunes received both BA and MA degrees in Economics from Hunter College (CUNY) where she excelled and graduated with honors.  She earned the Master of Divinity Degree with distinction from Union Theological Seminary in May of 2000. She is now completing her Doctor of Ministry degree (DMin) at Hartford Seminary.

Rev. Nunes is fully immersed in the community that she serves. She believes that God has called her to be Jesus' "hands and feet" in the world, one person at a time. Through her work in the community she has received various awards. To God be glory!

She has a daughter, Tiffany Elaine Nunes, who is a school teacher in the New York City public school system and a new granddaughter, Madison Elaine.  Both her mother, Mrs. Hilda Wisdom, and her daughter live in the family home in St. Albans Queens, while Rev. Nunes resides in Bridgeport, Connecticut.
